During the 2025–2026 year, study and practice will focus on the Four Naldjor of Thögal.
Each session will provide progressive training through essential instructions, supporting a regular and in-depth practice.
Transmission of Sharza’s Thögal text, teachings, guided practices, Q&A, and exercises.
This year, the practice will center on the Four Naldjor of Thögal:
The First Darkness Naldjor
Training the stream of the Formless Śamatha practice through the Three Instructions and the Three Releasings.
Here, stability in the formless state is cultivated, allowing the natural clarity of mind free from grasping to appear.
The Second Darkness Naldjor
The practice of the Four Visions of Breakthrough, through the four key points, is the instruction to clarify the obscure, striking at the essential point.
This stage emphasizes the direct recognition of the nature of mind, illuminating what was previously concealed.
The Third Naldjor
Training in the Samadhi of the Luminous Appearance of the Sky.
The vast expanse of the sky becomes the support for vision and clarity, where light and awareness are revealed as inseparable.
The Fourth Naldjor
Training in the Samadhi of the Self-Illuminating Lamp.
The mind recognizes its own innate luminosity, a self-radiant clarity that requires no external support.
Primordial Purity (Kadak): Dzogchen emphasizes that the nature of all phenomena, including the mind, is inherently pure from the beginning. This purity is not something to be attained or cultivated but is the intrinsic quality of the mind itself, which is obscured by ignorance and conditioned thoughts.
Spontaneous Presence (Lhundrup): While the mind is fundamentally pure, it also has the capacity for spontaneous manifestation. This principle acknowledges that all experiences, thoughts, and perceptions arise naturally from the mind's luminous nature, without effort or deliberate creation.
Self-Liberation: In Dzogchen practice, thoughts and emotions are not suppressed or altered but are allowed to liberate themselves. This means that, by recognizing the true nature of thoughts as they arise, they dissolve on their own, leaving no trace.
Dzogchen practice involves two main stages:
Trekchod (Cutting Through): This stage focuses on cutting through the layers of mental obscurations to reveal the mind's natural state. It involves direct insight into the nature of reality, often facilitated by instructions from a qualified master.
Togal (Leap Over): This advanced stage involves the direct experience of the mind's luminous nature, often accompanied by visionary experiences. It is considered the culmination of Dzogchen practice, leading to the realization of the rainbow body, a state in which the physical body dissolves into light at death.
Dzogchen is unique in its emphasis on direct, experiential understanding rather than theoretical knowledge. It offers a profound and transformative path that can be integrated into daily life.
Practitioners learn to rest in the natural state of awareness, leading to deep inner peace, clarity, and ultimately, liberation from the cycles of suffering (samsara).
For those who wish to explore the depths of their own consciousness and experience the ultimate nature of reality, Dzogchen provides a powerful and direct method for achieving spiritual awakening.
